Sahel Peace University is the Sahel Peace Foundation's landmark initiative, a degree-granting institution dedicated exclusively to peacebuilding, governance, and resilience studies in the Sahel region of West Africa.
Students learn how to apply their new skills while in class. As part of their education, they will be asked to deliver a peace project in their local community.
Tuition is fully subsidized for students from the ten Sahel nations. Students are selected through a competitive merit and community impact process.

The Campus
Rooted in
Ouagadougou
The Sahel Peace University campus will be located in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso — the cultural, political, and economic heart of the Sahel region.
The design draws from vernacular West African building traditions — passive cooling, community courtyards, and locally-sourced materials — while meeting international standards for academic facilities.
Solar panels, rainwater collection, and native landscaping are anticipated — making the campus a model of sustainable design.
